la description

The Jungle meets the Beach!

Fuel up at the coffee shop and cruise south from San Francisco. You’ll ride through some industrial parts of town, passing through Brisbane and South San Francisco before eventually reaching San Bruno. Get ready, because you’ll be climbing quite a bit of pavement past the cemetery and up toward the trailhead on Sneath Lane. When you cross Highway 280, it begins to get steeper, but thankfully there are a lot fewer cars once you cross Skyline Boulevard. Sneath Lane turns into a car-free road once you pass the trailhead, and you’ll keep climbing up to the top of Sweeney Ridge.

Once you get to the top (sorta), you climb again, but at least you can enjoy the views of the ocean! When you’re up there on the ridge, the dirt begins, and you should do a tiny loop which has a pretty fun downhill before beginning your big downhill on Baquiano Trail. The big sendy downhill is mountain bike worthy, so be careful, and don’t forget to turn left when it gets steep downward!

Once you reach the pavement, you’ll be in the town of Pacifica. Wind through a neighborhood, go past a fuel spot, then you’ll start your ascent up Old San Pedro Mountain Road. Enjoy the views from the top - it’s crazy to think that this used to be a road for cars! This is the true “Planet of the Apes” view. Enjoy the descent on a sandy smooth surface.

At the bottom, take a break or continue on a little bit more singletrack around Highway 1. Cross the road and then begin pedaling on the car-free Devil’s Slide route past craggy outcrops. Continue up and down some other dirt, take the bike path through Pacifica, and then head up your last climb on Skyline Drive into Daly City.

Weave through the neighborhoods toward the Great Highway, and then you’ll reach Golden Gate Park. Make your way through the park and you’ll be close to your final food and beverage stop.
