la description

Be a turtle and smell the flowers during your slow roll

Kick off from Rockridge, climb up Tunnel Road, then take Skyline Boulevard to Skyline Gate, where you’ll take the East Ridge trail down to Pinehurst Road. Take a left on Pinehurst and pedal down into Moraga on the Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail and head into Walnut Creek.

When you make it past the edge of the urban area, you’ll arrive at the Fossil Hill Trailhead, which is part of the Shell Ridge Open Space. You’ll pedal your way through the sandy dirt adventure of Shell Ridge, heading southeast into Diablo Foothills Regional Park and generally climbing up and around the ridge. At a more distinct summit when you reach Wall Point Road, you’ll descend on a rocky trail and then begin a section of trail which contains several stream crossings. Be careful!

Later the trail smooths out, heading northwest into Castle Rock, and then transitions back to some suburban streets. You’ll re-enter the dirt and ascend one last distinct peak. Enjoy the downhill! Follow the windy neighborhood roads back into Walnut Creek and your post-ride food and beverage.
